Emergency procedures
Know the exits, know the codes, know your role. You are expected to be fluent in these on day one — not after your first drill.
Emergency codes
- Code Red — fire or smoke
- Code Blue — adult medical emergency
- Code Gray — combative or threatening person
- Code Silver — weapon or active shooter
- Code Pink — infant or child abduction
- Code Green — evacuation
Fire response — RACE
- Rescue anyone in immediate danger
- Alarm — pull the nearest pull station, dial the emergency line
- Contain — close doors and windows
- Extinguish or Evacuate based on size and your training
Medical emergency (Code Blue)

If you can leave safely, leave. If you cannot, lock and barricade the door, silence devices, and stay out of sight. Fight only as a last resort. Call 911 the moment it is safe to do so.
